Lunch Program Rules
Our school lunch program begins the Monday of the first full week of school. We ask that each family follow these rules and keep them posted in a convenient location for your reference.
- Lunch orders are sent home on the second or third Monday of the month. They must be returned the Thursday of that same week. Orders MUST be placed monthly. Lunches are $3.00 each.
- Payment may be made in cash or by check for the exact amount.
Checks should be made payable to Hope Hall PTSO. There is a fee of $25
on all returned checks. No refunds are given for days absent.
- It is essential that each column at the top of order form be completely filled in with the child’s name, grade, and homeroom teacher. Each lunch selection MUST be circled.
- If a child forgets lunch, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and milk will be provided for $1.50. If the student chooses to purchase a complete lunch of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, chips, fruit, and milk, the cost is $3.00. The money must be sent in the next day.
- If a lunch ticket is lost, a new one may be picked up in the lunchroom. Students are responsible for their lunch tickets.
- Extra lunches are sold on first come, first served basis at the regular price of $3.00. On Fridays, extra pizza is sold for $.50 per slice. NO credit is given as stated in number 4 above.
- Lunches also include white milk and fruit. If your child can't
drink milk, the school will provide water or you can provide a juice
drink that is not high in sugar or caffeine.
- PLEASE, do not send Pre-Purchased cans or bottles of soda, tea, fruit drinks or flavored water to school for snack or lunch.
Our experience is that the children fill up on these drinks and then
don't eat their lunch. This causes them to be hungry and cranky in the
afternoon, cutting down on their concentration and learning. Smaller than 12oz. juice, other carton drinks and non-carbonated drinks are best.
We will not allow students to drink cans of soft drinks that are high
in sugar or caffeine. This is in keeping with codes established by the
Health Department.
- Our emphasis is on helping each student to view the cafeteria as
our DINING ROOM and to use behavior that is expected as if they were in
a nice restaurant. Please support us in this expectation by packing
lunches that will be healthy as your child will eat, and reinforcing
what YOU would expect behavior to be like if you were present.
- Microwave capabilities are limited. It is possible to microwave
simple things that take 1 to 2 minutes, such as leftovers from home. It
is not possible to microwave items such as Ramen noodles,
microwave meals that require mixing, or pre-packaged dinners that take
3 to 8 minutes. We simply don’t have the staff or microwaves available
and any meal that takes longer than 3 minutes ties up the services for
everyone, meaning the children don’t have adequate time to eat lunch
and enjoy recess.
If you have any questions about lunch orders, please contact Mrs. Fagan at 426-0210.
